About Klann Organ Supply

It was in 1898 when August Klann immigrated to the United States from Germany. As a cabinet maker by trade, he started working for a pipe organ builder in San Francisco building organ cases and cabinets. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, he moved to Alliance, OH where he started Klann Organ Supply in 1910. In 1916, he moved the business to Basic, VA (which later merged with Waynesboro) to be closer to his largest customer at the time, Barckhoff Organ Company. In those days organ chest magnets were the main product, but over the years the product line was expanded to include consoles and most of the components necessary to build a complete pipe organ. Being the oldest manufacturer of pipe organ components in North America, we are now in our third generation of family ownership. August Klann’s son Paul became President in 1952 and his grandson Phil took over in 1995. Thank you for your interest in Klann Organ Supply.
